  1. Hi Royston tried to e-mail you but got bounced back as a delivery failure. See original mail below!

    Good morning Royston,
Just wanted to drop you a line to say how inspirational your work is. I stumbled upon mokume gane only recently and have been transfixed by its beauty and uniquness.
I wish you every success with what is a true skill/gift.
I have just started doing a jewellery making course myelf and my first project is to make a mokume gane ring. It is just a copper/brass combo but am at the stage now where I am ready to open up the layers and see how it has turned out. (its very exciting)
Hopefully I will make a few more over the period of the course playing around with different ways of creating grain pattterns. Can you recommend what the next step would be after my exploration stage?

Thanks again and all the very best for the future.

    regards

    Dave O Neill (Dorset)

    • HI, thanks for the kind words.

Mokume is an interesting medium to work, there will be many many failures and hours lost because of it. Keep at it, you’ll get there, it may seem expesnsive but copper and silver are the easiest to get to work, copper and brass or any other copper allow is more difficult to fuse, esp at first. It may seem expensive with te price of silver going up, but sterling is still reasonable enough.

To me the beauty is in the twist, you can makke it twisted wood grain, or my speciality chevron, twist a bar then split it, trust me it’ll take a while to perfect simetrical bars.

Sound like your on the right path, passion, as long as you have that you’ll keep on at it.

      All the best.

      • Royston,
Thanks for the mail back. Am just putting the finishinf touches to my first ring. The patterns came out random! More a camo fatigue look!! Still looks good though. Thanks for the advice on the copper/silver combo. Will do that next. Will keep in contact, as may be interested in getting some sheet of you.

        regards

        dave

  2. I tried writing an e-mail requesting mokume gane sheet, however the listed e-mail says undeliverable.

I am very interested in purchasing sheets of mokume gane and would like to know available patterns and pricing per square inch.

    Thanks,
    Alexandra

    • HI.

Yes had problems with the link, but if you use my email rystnupsn78@hotmail.co.uk it works,

I will only sell complete sheets as it it not economical to sell by the inch, price will be time material related, If you have an ide as to what you want I can work out an approximate price for you. I will do silver and copper as a atandard, but can do other combinations depending on request.

      • I am looking for the raindrop pattern silver and copper sheet. How large would the sheet be, and how high would the price run?

        Thanks,
        Alexandra
